How to make your own Christmas decorations during the holidays

Christmas is a time for family and friends, but it can also be a time for stress — after all, there’s so much to do before the big day! During this busy season, it’s important to take some time out for yourself.

So why not try making some of your own Christmas decorations?

Here are some ideas to get you started:

Snowflakes: Snowflakes are very popular during the month of December. They can be made out of paper or cut out of fabric and glued onto a window. If you’re crafty, you can even sew them onto fabric or string them together as garland. You can also make snowflake garland by cutting out snowflakes from construction paper or cardstock and attaching them together with string or ribbon.

Gingerbread Houses: Gingerbread houses are another popular Christmas decoration that people love making at home. If you have kids, this is an activity they’ll enjoy helping with too! To make gingerbread houses, all you need is some cookie dough and frosting along with some candy pieces such as M&M’s or gumdrops for décor.

Snowmen from Styrofoam balls: This is an easy project that can be done in minutes. Simply cut a hole in the bottom of each ball and thread a pipe cleaner through it. Then take two more pipe cleaners, twist them together and place them in the hole you created on top of the ball. Add eyes and buttons with glue or hot glue gun. You can also add hats made out of paper, yarn or ribbon.

Wrap pinecones with fabric strips: Use a hot glue gun to attach fabric strips around pinecones to make them look like presents wrapped in wrapping paper! If you want something different, try using embroidery floss instead of fabric strips.

Carved Pumpkins. You can use this idea for paper Mache pumpkins or real pumpkins. It doesn’t matter what kind of pumpkin you use, as long as it looks like a real one. This project is perfect for kids because they can get involved in making their own Halloween pumpkins and have fun while doing it. Moreover, these pumpkins can be used year after year so there’s no need to buy new ones every year or throw them away when Halloween is over.

Christmas wreaths. Christmas wreaths have always been a classic way to add some holiday spirit to your home, but they can get pretty expensive if you buy them from stores. So if you want to save some money while still adding a festive touch to your home, then try making your own Christmas wreath out of fresh pine branches or other greenery. You can use ribbon or twine as an embellishment.

Garlands. To make garlands for your mantelpiece or fireplace, cut strips of fabric into different lengths and roll them into balls before stringing them together with yarn or twine. You can also use lace doilies as part of your garland by gluing them onto the backside of pieces of fabric first before rolling them into balls again.
